When Kate was hospitalized at 3 years old with ALL, she refused to wear the standard issue hospital gowns . She said, “I am not wearing that… princesses don’t wear that”. So with the help of our friend Jane Bunemann, we began making princess hospital gowns for Kate in every possible color and fabric. Dr. Adgezian said she was “the best dress patient". Little girls going through cancer treatment experience days that most adults wouldn’t be able to handle. The princess gowns made Kate feel like she could at least control what she wore and the compliments made her feel pretty and special in a normal kind of way. We decided that more little girls needed to have that control a pretty dress can give. Kisses4Kate will provide any little girl undergoing treatment for cancer with hospital gowns they can call their own.
